The Kano State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into a brutal attack that left a woman and her six children dead in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Kano.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 17, 2026, when unknown assailants reportedly broke into the home of one Haruna Bashir and carried out a violent attack on members of his household.
The victims were identified as Fatima Abubakar, aged 35, and her six children.
Preliminary findings indicate that they were attacked with dangerous weapons, leading to fatal injuries.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately mobilised a police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani, to the scene of the crime.
The bodies were evacuated and taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, has been directed to lead a thorough investigation aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible.

Police authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore calm in the area.
