The Kaduna State Government has directed political appointees who plan to contest in the 2027 elections to resign from their positions.
The directive was issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdulqadir Muazu Meyere.
According to the circular, affected officials must resign on or before March 23, 2026.
The decision follows the revised election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Under the new schedule, Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on January 16, 2027.
Meanwhile, Governorship and State Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
The circular stated that party primaries will begin on April 23, 2026.
Therefore, political appointees must leave office to meet the legal requirement.

The guideline requires officials seeking elective positions to resign at least one month before party primaries.
The state government urged ministries, departments, and agencies to give the directive wide publicity.
Officials also directed all concerned appointees to comply fully with the requirement.
The circular was signed by the Secretary to the State Government and circulated to government institutions across Kaduna State.
