The government of Israel has approved a new plan to allow authorities to seize large areas of West Bank as “state land”.

Under the policy, Palestinians must provide formal documentation to validate their claims to land, a requirement critics say is difficult to meet.

Human rights groups and Palestinian officials have condemned the move, describing it as a form of “de facto annexation” that could accelerate land loss.

They argue that the measure adds new legal barriers for Palestinians while strengthening Israeli control over strategic areas of the West Bank.

Israeli authorities say the policy is intended to regulate land registration and resolve ownership disputes.

The decision comes amid ongoing international criticism of settlement activity and growing concerns about the future of a negotiated two-state solution.
