Innomesh signs MoU with NCAT

Nigeria’s unmanned aerial systems ecosystem received a major boost as Innomesh Technologies Ltd and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance drone production, training, research, and nationwide operations.

The partnership marks a strategic move to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development and to build a sustainable, locally driven drone innovation pipeline.

Speaking on the significance of the agreement, Engr. Abdulraheem Ibrahim, CEO of Innomesh Technologies Ltd, described the MoU as more than a formal collaboration.

He said the partnership represents a strategic step toward strengthening Nigeria’s capacity in unmanned aerial systems and building sustainable, locally driven drone innovation.

Under the agreement, both institutions will collaborate to advance indigenous drone production using local expertise and technology, develop structured UAV training programs for pilots, engineers and technicians, expand agricultural drone operations nationwide to improve productivity and food security, and strengthen research and operational capabilities within Nigeria’s aviation and drone sector.

The collaboration combines Innomesh’s industry-driven innovation with NCAT’s institutional depth and technical training structure, creating a pipeline that links research and skills development directly to real-world drone deployment.

With NCAT’s longstanding role in aviation training and regulatory support, the partnership is expected to help bridge the gap between innovation, education and operational scale.

Engr. Ibrahim reiterated that the company’s vision is to build scalable drone solutions that empower industries, enhance productivity and position Nigeria as a leader in UAV innovation across Africa. He added that partnering with NCAT brings technical structure, institutional credibility and long-term alignment to that vision.

Stakeholders say the agreement could reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported drone systems while creating jobs, strengthening technical capacity and accelerating the growth of the country’s UAV ecosystem.

For both institutions, the MoU signals the beginning of a new chapter in Nigeria’s aviation and technology space, one driven by local production, structured training and coordinated national-scale operations.
