Education Ministry Launches ECM System to Boost Efficiency

The Federal Ministry of Education has launched an Electronic Content Management (ECM) System as part of efforts to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery.

The initiative, unveiled by the Minister of Education, Chief (Dr.) Maruf Olatunji Alausa, FAMedS, CON, in Abuja on Thursday, marks a major step in the Ministry’s digital transformation agenda.

The event was attended by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, and several directors from the Ministry.

Dr. Alausa described the project as a “bold step toward revolutionizing service delivery,” noting that the ECM system eliminates duplication, reduces errors, and ensures secure, transparent, and speedy record management. He directed the ICT Department to lead the system’s full implementation and advised that a solar-powered backup be put in place to ensure uninterrupted operations.

According to the Minister, the reform aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which promotes digital governance and institutional efficiency.

In her remarks, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Walson-Jack, commended the Ministry’s leadership for setting a precedent for other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) ahead of the December 31, 2025 digitalization deadline. She said the move is in line with Pillar 5 of the Federal Civil Service Strategic Plan (2021–2025).

Permanent Secretary Mr. Enitan lauded the milestone as proof of institutional readiness, stating that the Ministry is “two months ahead of the national schedule.”

The ECM system was formally activated during a symbolic “Go-Live” ceremony by the project consultant, Dr. Sam Nwosu.
