The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports suggesting that he is eyeing the presidency in 2027, reaffirming his loyalty and commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration until 2031.

Wike, who made the clarification in a statement released through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, described the speculation as baseless and mischievous, adding that his focus remains on delivering Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT.

“As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031. He has no presidential ambition in 2027. His loyalty to the President is unwavering,” the statement read.

The denial follows online reports claiming that certain political figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were urging the former Rivers State governor to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Wike, however, said such rumours were the handiwork of idle political jobbers trying to sow discord.

“From now till 2031, I stand solidly with the mandate of President Tinubu. Our priority is to deliver results, not chase imaginary ambitions,” he stated during an FCT infrastructure project flag-off in Abuja.

He urged Nigerians to disregard politically motivated misinformation, noting that social media should be used to promote truth and national development rather than spread false narratives.

Political analysts see Wike’s latest statement as an attempt to calm speculation about divisions within the ruling coalition and reaffirm his place as a loyal ally of the President ahead of the next election cycle.
