An FCT High Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining some individuals from conducting a parallel National Elective Congress of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), scheduled for Monday.
The court, presided over by Justice J.E. Obanor, granted the order pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice in a suit filed by the Incorporated Trustees of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and its President, Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo.

The respondents in the matter include Ademola Gbenga, Okechukwu Nnamene, Abel Abaji, Alex Allen Akin, and Hassan Mamman.
Justice Obanor also directed the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to enforce the order, restraining the respondents, their agents, privies, or associates from holding or proceeding with any parallel National Elective Congress of the NYCN.
The court’s decision follows claims that a legitimate National Elective Congress of the NYCN had already been conducted between September 19 and 22, 2025, in Bayelsa State, during which Sukubo was re-elected as President alongside members of the National Executive Committee.
The matter was adjourned to October 16, 2025, for the hearing of the motion on notice.
