IGP Disu Decorates Eight Newly Promoted DIGs in Abuja

Tunji Disu on Monday decorated eight senior officers promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

The ceremony took place at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Disu described the promotion as recognition of years of service and professional dedication.

He said the new rank reflects the officers’ leadership capacity and commitment to policing.

The IGP urged the officers to provide strong strategic direction within the Force. He also asked them to strengthen discipline and improve operational coordination.

According to him, senior officers must ensure policing strategies respond to evolving security challenges.

Disu called on the new DIGs to promote intelligence-led policing and deepen inter-agency cooperation.

He also stressed the need for transparency and accountability in policing operations.

The IGP added that their leadership should inspire confidence within the Force and build public trust.

Disu thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting reforms in the police.

He also acknowledged the role of the Police Service Commission in ensuring transparency during the promotion process.

The IGP further praised the families of the officers for supporting their careers.

The officers promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police are:

  • Zachariah Fera Achinyan
  • Zango Ibrahim Baba
  • Isyaku Mohammed
  • Margaret Agebe Ochalla
  • Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman
  • Kenechukwu Onwuemelie
  • Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha
  • Umar Shehu Nadada

They now join the Force Management Team alongside the Force Secretary, AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo.

Several dignitaries attended the event in Abuja.

They included the Chairman of the House Committee on Airforce, Kabir Alhassan Rurum, and the Director-General of NACA, Temitope Ilori.

Former Head of the Civil Service, Danladi Kefas, and former DSS spokesperson Marilyn Ogar were also present.

Retired senior police officers and other government officials attended the ceremony.
