A windstorm following heavy rainfall has damaged parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal and nearby structures in Nyanya, Abuja. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) confirmed the incident.

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, said the storm struck a few hours after a heavy downpour. It affected sections of the Kugbo Bus Terminal, a key transport hub serving commuters within the FCT and nearby states.

The storm also damaged parts of the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and some nearby buildings. However, authorities reported no loss of life and no damage to vehicles.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has ordered the immediate deployment of security personnel to the area. Officials say the move will maintain order and ensure smooth traffic flow along the busy corridor.

Authorities have also promised to begin repairs immediately. They aim to restore normal activities as quickly as possible.

The FCTA urged residents to remain calm while response efforts continue.
