Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The closed-door meeting marks the first formal engagement between the Kano governor and the President since Yusuf assumed office.

Sources close to the development disclosed that the meeting focused on political realignments and ongoing negotiations between the Kano governor and key stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although no official statement has been issued by either party at the time of filing this report, indications suggest that Governor Yusuf may be considering a possible defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC following the outcome of the discussions.

Political analysts say such a move could significantly alter the political dynamics in Kano State and strengthen the ruling party’s presence in the North-West geopolitical zone.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Kano State Government and the Presidency were unsuccessful as of press time.
