Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed local government councils across the state to hold regular security meetings to strengthen vigilance and coordination in their respective communities.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Speaking during the State Security Council meeting held on Thursday at Government House, Kano, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of grassroots intelligence sharing and collaboration between residents and security agencies.

The meeting was attended by heads of security formations, including the Commandants of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy; the Commissioner of Police; as well as the Commandants of the NSCDC and NDLEA. Also present were the Comptrollers of the Correctional Service, Immigration, and Customs; the NAPTIP Commander; FRSC Sector Commander; ICPC Director; ALGON Chairman; and the Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
Governor Yusuf identified Shanono, Tsanyawa, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Gwarzo as areas requiring special attention due to their vulnerability to security threats.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to peace and stability, the Governor said security remains the top priority of his government.
“We must continue to work together—from the grassroots to the state level—to safeguard lives and property,” he stated.
He also sympathized with residents affected by recent security incidents and assured them of the government’s continuous efforts to protect all communities across Kano State.
