Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate establishment of a Special Task Force to strengthen security at motor parks and other strategic public spaces across the state.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the move is aimed at preventing criminal infiltration and safeguarding key entry and exit points within Kano metropolis, particularly areas with high human traffic.

Motor parks were identified as high-risk locations due to increased population movement and recent security developments, including the arrest of suspected miscreants at the Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.

The Special Task Force will carry out intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated security operations at motor parks and other vulnerable locations. Its mandate will also cover ancillary spaces such as filling stations and public areas where transient populations frequently gather.

Governor Yusuf described the initiative as a proactive measure designed to neutralise security threats before they escalate, improve inter-agency coordination, and restore public confidence.

He reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on criminality and pledged full support for security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
