Residents of Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State have called on the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) to improve electricity supply, especially during the critical period of Ramadan.
The appeal came from residents of Tudun Wada Shamaki and Nasarawo wards, who expressed concern over the worsening power situation during the holy month.
Speaking with an S24 correspondent, Amina Muhammad Sani said the situation has made daily life difficult for fasting Muslims. She explained that electricity is essential for preparing Iftar meals and Sahur, but supply has remained inadequate.
“Electricity supply now is very bad, especially during this Ramadan. Our daily activities depend on it, from preparing Iftar to Sahur. Out of 24 hours, we only get about seven to eight hours of light, which is very discomforting,” she said.
Similarly, Dr. Dokaji made an appeal during a Ramadan Tafsir at Alahafad Mosque in Nasarawo, urging the management of JED to urgently address the problem and improve supply to residents.
He also called on the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to intensify efforts in supporting the completion and utilization of the Dadin Kowa Hydroelectric Power Station project.
According to him, improving power generation through the project would help ensure a stable electricity supply and improve the living conditions of the people of Gombe State.
