Tension is rising in Gombe State following complaints from residents who claim they received only ₦15,000 as compensation for acquired land.

A video circulating on Facebook shows affected families questioning how such an amount could be considered fair for lands and properties they say took years to acquire.

One of the affected residents, Bello Musa, described the payment as “deeply unfair.” According to him, the government paid ₦15,000 for the land and an additional ₦50,000 as a token, bringing the total compensation to ₦64,775.

“Just a few years ago, this land was valued at about ₦1 million,” Bello said.

He further alleged that funds were released by the Federal Government to support the project, raising concerns over why affected residents received such minimal compensation.

Bello emphasized that his complaint is not politically motivated but reflects the hardship faced by families losing their homes and means of livelihood.

Residents are now calling on the Gombe State Government to review the compensation process and ensure fairness.

Their message is clear: development should not come at the expense of human dignity.
