“Germany is not a party to the war. The German Armed Forces will not participate,” Pistorius said.
He added that Berlin will continue working toward de-escalation across the region.
Trump had urged European allies to help secure key shipping routes. He also asked them to support military operations.
However, several countries, including Germany, rejected the request. They said the situation requires caution and political solutions.
Pistorius questioned what additional European forces could achieve. He said the United States already has strong military capacity.
The German minister also dismissed concerns about NATO unity.
German officials said the conflict does not fall under NATO’s collective defence obligations. They stressed that the alliance is defensive.
Across Europe, many governments remain reluctant to join a wider military campaign. Instead, they continue to push for diplomacy.
They also support coordinated international efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
