Fire Disaster: Shettima Leads FG Delegation to Kano

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead a federal delegation to Kano.

The delegation will visit Kano to express sympathy and support for victims of the Singer Market fire disaster.

The team is scheduled to depart Abuja to convey the President’s condolences to affected traders.

The delegation will also pledge financial assistance to help victims recover from losses caused by the fire outbreak.

It will further support efforts by the Kano State Government to ensure the quick reopening of the market.

Members of the delegation include the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

Also included are the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Ismaila and Rep. Abubakar Kabir Bichi.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard M. Doro, is also part of the delegation.

The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar, will accompany the team.

President Tinubu earlier spoke with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over the fire incident.

The fire started on Saturday evening and continued into Sunday, destroying goods at Nigeria’s largest food market.

The President directed a full investigation into the repeated market fires affecting traders in Kano.
