Fire Destroys 20 Shops at Jos Faringada Market – NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Fire Service have responded to a fire outbreak at Faringada Market in Jos.

The fire occurred around 6:00 a.m. on Monday.

The incident destroyed 20 vehicle spare parts shops in the busy market.

Four containers and two vehicles were also burnt.

The affected vehicles included a bus and a Toyota Corolla.

Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident.

Emergency responders worked quickly to contain the blaze.

Their intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby shops.

Officials said the fire was brought under control within a short time.

Preliminary reports indicate the cause of the fire is still unknown.

The fire caused significant economic losses for traders.

Many of the affected business owners depend on the market for their daily livelihood.

Former president of the market association, Shehu Ibrahim, praised emergency responders.

He said their quick response prevented a more devastating disaster.

NEMA urged traders to observe fire safety precautions in markets.

The agency advised proper electrical installations and careful handling of flammable materials.
