The Federal Government says it is building strategic global partnerships to counter false narratives and strengthen Nigeria’s global reputation.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this in London on Saturday during the UK edition of the Renewed Hope Global Dialogue, themed “Strengthening Global Partnerships for Economic Renewal and National Rebranding under the Renewed Hope Administration.”
Idris said the government remains committed to rebranding Nigeria and addressing malicious disinformation campaigns, particularly those alleging state-sponsored religious attacks.
“We have been very robust in our rebuttals, making it clear that these are despicable narratives being peddled by people who know nothing about Nigeria,” the Minister said.
He emphasized that national rebranding requires deliberate strategy and collaboration, noting that the Ministry, in partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has launched the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG) to promote national pride and a positive global image.

The Minister also revealed that the Nigeria Global Reputation Management Project has been unveiled to coordinate branding efforts, while the Federal Government has designated October 15 as Nigeria Reputation Day to promote awareness about national image and integrity.
He announced that Nigeria will host both the 2026 African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference and the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja — the first African nation to host both events in the same year.
Highlighting recent diplomatic and economic milestones, Idris cited Nigeria’s admission as a BRICS partner country, the election of a Nigerian as Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), and Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List as major achievements under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The Minister further outlined key domestic reforms, including the unification of the exchange rate, implementation of the national student loan scheme, introduction of a new minimum wage, rollout of the presidential CNG initiative, and establishment of five new regional development commissions and a Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
Idris said these initiatives reflect President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda anchored on the 4Ds — Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora, noting that they are fast-tracking Nigeria’s goal of becoming a leading global economy.
“We are a listening, engaging government, and we invite international partners to join us in taking this transformation to the next level,” he added.
