The Federal Government has disbursed ₦2.25 billion to support student-led startups across Nigeria.
The funding was awarded to 45 beneficiaries under the Student Venture Capital Grant programme.
The initiative is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Beneficiaries were selected from over 30,000 applicants across more than 400 tertiary institutions.
Each startup received up to ₦50 million in equity-free funding.
The awards were presented at the United Nations Development Programme Innovation Hub in Lagos.
Education Minister Tunji Alausa said the programme promotes innovation and entrepreneurship.
He noted that tertiary institutions are being repositioned as hubs for enterprise and economic development.

The initiative is supported by partners including the Bank of Industry.
The selected startups emerged after a venture development bootcamp held in March 2026.
Participants pitched ideas focused on technology, agriculture, healthcare and sustainability.
Officials said the programme will help students scale ideas into viable businesses.
The scheme aligns with the agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Authorities say it will strengthen Nigeria’s startup ecosystem and promote job creation.
