Worshippers at Kuje Central Mosque waited in frustration on Eid morning after prayers did not start at the scheduled time of 9:00 a.m.

Eyewitnesses said the delay followed the Emir’s absence, whose arrival was expected before the prayer could begin.

The wait became even more difficult for worshippers as the harsh, scorching sun left them standing outside, exposed and unattended.

As the delay continued, many worshippers grew worried and frustrated. Some said it disrupted the order and solemn mood that usually mark Eid prayers. Others considered leaving for nearby mosques where prayers had already started.

The delay also caused confusion among members of the congregation. While some remained calm, others questioned the event’s planning and coordination.

The incident highlighted the importance of punctuality and proper organisation during major religious gatherings, such as Eid prayers.

As of the time of filing this report, many worshippers were still waiting, while others had started leaving for nearby mosques
