Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has proposed a ₦125 billion supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year, aiming to enhance the state’s infrastructure development. This adjustment brings the total 2025 budget to ₦799.82 billion, an 18% increase from the initially approved ₦675.22 billion.

The supplementary budget was approved by the Edo State Executive Council during an emergency meeting on September 29, 2025. The Commissioner for Finance, Emmanuel Okoebor, highlighted that the revised budget allocates approximately 70% to capital expenditure, up from 67% in the original budget. This shift underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructural development across the state.

The proposed increase is intended to address emerging needs and ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects. Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the supplementary budget would facilitate the acceleration of key infrastructure initiatives, including road construction, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions, thereby fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents.

Following the Executive Council’s approval, the supplementary budget will be presented to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and approval. Governor Okpebholo has expressed confidence that the legislature will expedite the review process to enable the swift implementation of the proposed projects.

Edo State’s proposed ₦125 billion supplementary budget reflects a strategic investment in the state’s infrastructure, aiming to drive sustainable development and enhance public services. If approved, the revised budget will play a pivotal role in realizing the government’s vision for a more prosperous and well-developed Edo State.
