Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) has expressed its readiness to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in delivering a credible Area Council Election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) scheduled for 21 February 2026.

The assurance was given by DAI Team Lead, Mr. Rudolf Ebling, during a working visit by a two-man delegation to the INEC FCT office on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.

Mr. Ebling said the visit, coming just months ahead of the polls, was aimed at strengthening the organisation’s partnership with INEC FCT and identifying areas where DAI can provide technical assistance to enhance the transparency and smooth conduct of the election. He noted that capacity-building for staff and support in the deployment of new technological tools available to the Commission are key areas where DAI can make meaningful contributions.

Responding, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the FCT, Malam Aminu Kasimu Idris, appreciated the visit and DAI’s commitment to supporting electoral processes in the territory. He listed possible areas of collaboration, including staff training, public sensitisation, and voter education. Idris said the FCT office would harmonise its needs and forward them to DAI for further consideration.

The DAI delegation also included Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu, a former National Commissioner of INEC. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from the Administrative Secretary, followed by a group photograph.
