The Customs Police Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service has conducted a two-day capacity-building training for its officers.
The in-house programme held from February 5 to 6, 2026, at the CPU Headquarters in Abuja.
The training targeted Deputy Provost Marshals, Assistant Provost Marshals, and Assistant Comptrollers across the Unit.
Participants also served as resource persons, promoting peer learning and internal collaboration.
Opening the programme, Provost Marshal Sani Yahaya stressed the need for continuous professional development.

He said modern law enforcement demands constant training and strong inter-unit cooperation.
Yahaya highlighted reforms under Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi’s leadership.
He said the Customs Police Unit plays a strategic role in supporting trade facilitation and compliance reforms.
Training sessions covered ethics, emotional intelligence, arrest procedures, and criminal investigation.
Officers also learned investigation reporting, reputation management, and suspect tracking technologies.
Other areas included compliance enforcement and the use of artificial intelligence in investigations.
An AML/CFT Unit facilitator urged stronger synergy between financial intelligence and enforcement teams.
He said collaboration is essential for effective compliance and national security outcomes.
At the end of the programme, six officers received awards for outstanding performance.
