A Federal Capital Territory High Court has admitted additional exhibits against former NHIS Executive Secretary, Prof. Usman Yusuf.

Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu delivered the ruling on Wednesday at the Kuchiako Division in Kuje, Abuja.

The prosecution had earlier presented the documents during proceedings held on January 5, 2026.

Ruling on admissibility, Justice Nwecheonwu said the documents met legal requirements.

She noted that the defence raised no objection during tendering.

The court admitted certified copies of NHIS letters dated November 11, 2016, marked as Exhibits E1 to E32.

It also admitted procurement plans for 2016 and 2017, marked F1 to F4 and G1 to G5.

Additionally, the NHIS Procurement Act 2016 was admitted and marked H1 to H2.

During testimony, Balami told the court he made multiple statements to the EFCC.

He said the statements were recorded over several days.

However, defence counsel objected to the admissibility of the extra-judicial statements.

After hearing arguments, the judge adjourned ruling on the objection.

The court fixed May 13 and 14, 2026, for ruling and continuation of trial.

Prof. Yusuf faces five charges bordering on embezzlement and fraud.

The alleged offence involves ₦90,439,178 in public funds.
