Comptroller Mohammed Tako Assumes Duty at Adamawa/Taraba Area Command

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adamawa/Taraba Area Command, has witnessed a smooth leadership transition with the assumption of duty by Comptroller Mohammed Tako as the new Customs Area Controller.

The formal handing-over ceremony took place on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at the Customs House in Yola, following the redeployment of senior officers within the Service.

A statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Naomi Titus, said the outgoing Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Garba Bashir, officially handed over leadership to Comptroller Tako in the presence of senior officers and heads of units.

The statement noted that the transition, conducted in line with established administrative procedures of the Service, reflects the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to continuity, efficiency, and effective service delivery across the Adamawa and Taraba operational areas.

In his farewell remarks, Comptroller Garba Bashir expressed gratitude to God Almighty and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for the opportunity to serve. He described his tenure as fulfilling, attributing the successes recorded to teamwork, professionalism, and the cooperation of officers and key stakeholders.

Bashir urged officers of the Command to extend the same level of support to his successor to enable him succeed, while also seeking forgiveness from anyone he may have offended in the course of his duties.

In his acceptance remarks, Comptroller Mohammed Tako thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for the confidence reposed in him and commended his predecessor for laying a solid foundation.

He assured officers and stakeholders of an open-door policy and a collective leadership approach aimed at strengthening service delivery within the Command.

Comptroller Tako outlined a six-point agenda focusing on intensifying anti-smuggling operations, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, engaging border communities, promoting transparency and professionalism, improving revenue generation, and prioritising officers’ welfare and motivation.

He further charged officers and men of the Command to remain disciplined, diligent, and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service as he assumes leadership of the Adamawa/Taraba Area Command.
