BUK Mechatronics Student Wins ₦5 Million Grant at Dabo Hackathon 2025

A 400-level Mechatronics Engineering student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Suleiman Arabi Suleiman, has won a ₦5 million innovation grant at the Dabo Hackathon Innovation Challenge 2025.

Suleiman, who currently maintains a 4.96 CGPA, received the award during the closing ceremony of the tech-driven competition held on December 23, 2025.

The event marked the conclusion of a series of innovation pitches aimed at promoting digital solutions and entrepreneurship among young Nigerian innovators.

The win is regarded as a significant milestone for both the student and the university, positioning BUK as a growing hub for technology, research, and innovation talent in Nigeria.

The grant is expected to support the development and scaling of Suleiman’s project, which impressed judges with its problem-solving potential.

The Dabo Hackathon continues to attract participation from tech innovators across the country, with this year’s edition focusing on youth empowerment, engineering solutions, and digital creativity.
