Bashir Ahmad, OON, a former presidential aide, has stated that Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, occupies a strategic role in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, adding that his position reinforces the party’s influence both at the state and national levels.
Ahmad, in a statement on Monday, noted that Senator Barau’s office as the Deputy Senate President elevates Kano’s representation in national legislative leadership, while also serving as a bridge between the federal government and the APC grassroots base in the state.

According to him, Barau’s political experience and institutional influence attract federal attention, foster development-focused engagements and help stabilise party activities in the state.
“Within APC Kano, Senator Barau’s stature commands respect across factions, making him a stabilizing force and rallying point for members,” Ahmad said.
He added that the Deputy Senate President’s role continues to reinforce Kano’s relevance in national politics, especially as the state remains a competitive political zone.
