In Nigeria’s 2026 federal budget, the State House Headquarters, which includes the Aso Rock Villa, has made provisions for significant energy-related spending. According to the approved budget documents, approximately ₦1.989 billion has been allocated specifically for fuel to run generators at the presidential residence and related facilities. Additionally, about ₦17.2 million has been set aside for maintenance of those generators, bringing the total earmarked for generator fuel and upkeep to just under ₦2 billion for the year.

These allocations appear alongside a separate budget line of ₦7 billion dedicated to the solarisation of the Villa with a solar mini-grid, reflecting ongoing efforts to incorporate alternative energy sources into power supply plans for the State House complex. The solar project follows an earlier provision of ₦10 billion for similar work in the 2025 fiscal year.

The inclusion of substantial diesel fuel costs and a renewable energy project in the State House budget comes amid persistent nationwide power supply challenges, which have driven many government entities and households to rely on generators and independent power solutions.
