The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to a reported shooting incident involving ADC members in Edo State.

In a statement issued in Abuja on February 26, the APC described the accusation as baseless and premature, noting that security agencies have not yet concluded investigations into the incident.

APC calls for proper investigation

The statement, signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the ADC’s claims ignored the principles of due process.

According to the APC, accusing another political party before the completion of a police investigation undermines the rule of law.

The ruling party urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible for the incident to justice.

Violence in politics condemned

The APC stated that political violence is unacceptable and should be condemned by all parties.

However, the party rejected any attempt to associate it with the incident, insisting that it had no involvement in the reported shooting.

APC cites recent electoral victories

The APC also said it remains focused on governance and political activities following what it described as electoral successes in recent contests.

The party referenced victories in elections held in the Federal Capital Territory, Kano State and Rivers State.

It thanked voters in those areas for what it called continued support for the party and the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Party reaffirms focus on governance

The APC said its priority remains strengthening the country’s economy and governance systems.

The party added that it remains committed to building a more resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
