The PDP national secretariat at Wadata Plaza in Abuja, sealed by the Nigeria Police in November 2025 after clashes between rival party factions, is set to reopen on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Samuel Anyanwu, acting National Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Committee backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, said the police closed the secretariat after a clash between his faction and another led by Tanimu Turaki’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Anyanwu said the rival group went to court to reopen the secretariat, but their case was dismissed because they lacked legal standing. His faction will therefore take control on Monday.

He added that the Federal High Court in Ibadan declared the November 15–16, 2025 PDP convention null and void, confirming the caretaker committee’s authority and party unity under this leadership.

Anyanwu also said concerns about the PDP not fielding candidates in upcoming elections have been resolved. The caretaker team will campaign, especially for the FCT Area Council elections.

A rival PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki (NWC) has warned security agencies not to allow the Wike-backed group to reopen the secretariat, saying the matter is still before the court and any access would be unlawful.

This development is part of a wider leadership dispute in Nigeria’s main opposition party, with parallel claims to leadership and legal battles over control of party offices and assets.
