Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday visited former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at his Abuja residence to show solidarity.
Amaechi said he came to stand with El-Rufai following reports of an attempted arrest by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). He described the action as troubling and called for respect for democratic rights and the rule of law.
According to sources, the visit lasted several hours, during which both leaders discussed recent political developments in the country. Amaechi reportedly expressed concern over what he called the growing intimidation of opposition figures.
The alleged attempted arrest has sparked reactions from political supporters and civil society groups, with many calling for transparency and calm. As of the time of filing this report, the DSS has not issued an official statement on the matter.
