Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, has reportedly defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in a move that is set to reshape the political landscape of the state and beyond.

Sources within the Government House in Yola indicate that the governor’s defection was accompanied by members of his cabinet and key political allies, signaling a significant realignment ahead of upcoming political activities in the country.

Fintiri, who has been a prominent figure in the PDP and served two terms as governor under the party’s platform, has yet to make an official public statement detailing the reasons behind his decision. However, political observers say the development could have far-reaching implications for both the PDP and the APC in the North-East region.

The reported mass defection of cabinet members is also expected to strengthen the APC’s structure in Adamawa, a state that has traditionally witnessed intense political rivalry between the two major parties.

Party officials from both camps are yet to release formal reactions as of press time.
