The Federal Government has injected N10.1 billion into Nigeria’s education sector in the last quarter of 2025 as part of efforts to strengthen learning and improve human capital development.
According to the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, the funds were used for several programmes to support students and improve training facilities across the country.
A breakdown shows that N2.97 billion was paid as stipends to about 160,000 vocational students, N4.6 billion was allocated to upgrade Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres, and N2.55 billion was allocated to a menstrual health campaign, which provided over one million sanitary pads to about 370,000 girls, especially in rural areas. N50 million was also disbursed under the Student Venture Capital Grant programme to support tertiary students.
The minister said the intervention is part of the government’s broader education reform agenda aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children, improving literacy, and equipping young Nigerians with skills for employment.
He added that the government is also improving teachers’ welfare and strengthening school safety to create a better learning environment nationwide.
