The Bauchi State Government has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a work-free day to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of the State.
The declaration applies to civil servants in both the public and private sectors, to enable residents fully participate in activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar M. Gidado, the governor described the anniversary as a moment for reflection on the state’s journey over the past five decades.
He said the jubilee provides an opportunity to celebrate achievements, strengthen unity, and renew commitment to development, peace, and good governance.
As part of the celebrations, Governor Mohammed also directed residents to plant at least one tree in commemoration of the day, describing the initiative as a step towards environmental sustainability, combating desertification and reducing the effects of climate change.
The governor urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, maintain peace and order, and demonstrate patriotism and collective responsibility.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and policies aimed at improving the welfare of residents and strengthening institutions across the state.
However, essential service providers, including those in security and emergency services, were directed to remain on duty in the interest of public safety.
Governor Mohammed congratulated the people of Bauchi State on the historic milestone and called for active participation to make the Golden Jubilee celebration memorable.
