Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined a special event to remember General Murtala Ramat Muhammed.
It was held at the cenotaph in Ikoyi where people honored the late leader.Sanwo-Olu and other guests stood beside the memorial.
They laid wreaths of flowers to show respect for the late General’s life and service. Many leaders and family members were there, including: Senator Daisy Danjuma, Dr. Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode (his daughter),Gbenga Oyebode and Hon. Bola Oladunjoye.
General Murtala Muhammed was Nigeria’s Head of State in 1975–1976. He led important changes in government in a short time. His time as leader was cut short when he was killed in 1976.
This year marks 50 years since his death. People are holding events, talk programs, and memorials to remember his impact. A special ceremony was held in Lagos today to honor the life and work of General Murtala Muhammed 50 years after his death.
