Africa Scrabble has announced a record $35,000 prize pool for the 2026 Africa Scrabble Championship, scheduled for October 21–25 in Monrovia, Liberia.
Organisers confirmed the tournament will take place at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex.
The winner will receive $10,000, the highest prize ever awarded in the championship’s history.
The runner-up will earn $5,000, third place $3,500, fourth $3,000 and fifth $2,250. Cash prizes will be extended to the top 20 finishers, marking a major expansion of rewards.
The Pan African Scrabble Association said preparations are ongoing, including travel, visa and accommodation arrangements, while registration fees for quota players remain unchanged.
