The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has moved to quash speculation that its statutes will be amended during its 2025 Annual General Assembly (AGA) scheduled to hold on September 27 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement signed by its Director of Communication, Dr. Ademola Olajire, the NFF described the rumours as “unfounded” and clarified that no such amendments are on the agenda for the upcoming meeting.

“As part of standard procedure, a workshop will be held on September 26, involving NFF members, FIFA, and CAF officials to discuss proposals for new statutes in line with international best practices,” the statement read.

The Federation emphasised that the consultation process is still in its early stages and that a separate General Assembly will be convened in the future to deliberate on and adopt any proposed changes.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process, the NFF said its goal is to strengthen governance structures, broaden stakeholder representation, and ensure long-term stability and progress for Nigerian football.

With FIFA and CAF fully involved in the review process, stakeholders are optimistic that eventual reforms will position the NFF for stronger compliance with global football governance standards.
